A successful product requires smart management - not just during development or at the point of sale, but along the entire value chain. With product lifecycle management, a business can manage a product as it moves through its various stages, regardless of evolving market conditions.
But this is easier said than done. That’s because successful product lifecycle management requires coordination across several job functions, including operators, integrators, and manufacturers. Our Product Lifecycle Management course provides the common language and understanding needed to ensure that everyone is on the same page.
Developed in partnership with Fraunhofer, a globally recognised German research centre, this course is based on the IEC-62443 standard and offers tailored content to each group of learners. In practice, this means that network engineers and IT administrators gain an automation perspective by programming PLCs, while those working in automation build and analyse the system’s network infrastructure. The result is that everyone gains a comprehensive understanding of the product lifecycle and, in particular, the management methods and challenges that arise during every stage.
Divided into 12 parts, the course uses a combination of face-to-face workshops, group activities, and hands-on exercises. Focused on providing you with the fundamentals of product lifecycle management, with a particular focus on cyber security and automated systems, the training covers such concepts as:
- PLM basics, strategy development, and management
- Virtual product development and systems engineering
- CAx technology and engineering change management
- Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things
- Process modelling and analysis
- IT development, interfaces, and integration
- Advanced systems engineering
To enhance the learning experience, the course includes a unique opportunity to apply your new skills and knowledge towards solving real industry problems in actual production environments. This includes a range of lab exercises, learning cases, and a physical demonstration of industrial transportation processes and multiple automation components.
You will leave the training having a comprehensive understanding of the main aspects and importance of product lifecycle management. Most importantly, you will have the confidence to lead product lifecycle management and engineering IT projects, including the implementation of virtual product development and digital factory processes.
